Rehab Advice

Whether you’re looking to check into rehab yourself, or are seeking treatment/a facility for a partner, friend or family member, we can help. The first step is to collect the necessary information to identify the right programme for the person concerned, as this is key to successful recovery from addiction. If rehab is just something you’re considering at this point, our admissions and counselling team are on hand at any time to answer queries and explain the detox/rehab process, and can give you a tour of the facilities if you choose to have an informal meeting in person. Advice is also available over the phone and online.

Home detox

As an alternative to residential rehab, many people can opt to detox from alcohol at home (or an alternative safe environment) through a managed detoxification process of gradually overcoming your dependence on alcohol. This typically involves the use of sedatives and/or other medication (including vitamins) to alleviate the symptoms of withdrawal as well as other, unpleasant (and potentially dangerous) side effects. We can usually arrange at-home detoxes to commence within one or two days, where a specialist addictions nurse will attend at a convenient time for you.

Sober coach

A ‘sober coach’ is a professional who can provide tailored, discrete support to an individual client struggling with alcoholism, an eating disorder, or drug addiction, with the primary aim of preventing a relapse. This is a highly bespoke and immersive service that is convenient and completely confidential. The sober coach may be engaged for a few hours a week for a couple of weeks, or over many months or years, providing individualised support. At ADR, we have a team of professional, insured coaches who are highly experienced and motivated, and well-trusted by clients, all being in long-term recovery themselves.

Sober companion

Addiction can be a lonely journey – a sober companion is a person who can guide and support you on the road to recovery from various addictions, providing physical and emotional support to ensure you remain committed to your journey. Many of our sober companions are on their own recovery journeys and have experienced the highs and lows for themselves. However, they have been sober for a long time and can use their experiences to help others overcome the challenges ahead and reassure them that they will make it through.

Interventions

People struggling with an addiction can be hard to approach and deal with, and it can be difficult to know what to say or do to help. Often, the person with the addiction will be in denial that they have a problem with alcohol or drugs, making it hard to have an open and honest conversation about what’s going on. This is where an intervention specialist can really help, facilitating open and productive communication between the concerned parties and break the cycle of denial. If you’re planning an intervention, the assistance of a specialist is essential, as confronting an addict alone or in the wrong way can do more harm than good, and can make the situation worse if they refuse help. Never attempt an intervention alone.

Group therapy

More severe or complicated addictions are best treated through group therapy, with direct interaction between the clients and the therapists enables a personal connection to be built. This helps our therapists to tailor their treatment to ensure their treatment journey is successful. These sessions are so beneficial that we have found many clients choose to continue with them after their official course of treatment is complete.

Online therapy

There are certain therapeutic approaches that can be adapted effectively to an online format. The perfect solution for those that have work commitments and are unable to take time off for a residential rehab stay. Our home detox is an effective alternative to residential rehab. Rehab in the comfort of your own home.

Intensive group outpatient programs

Residential rehabilitation programmes in a shared space are a significant undertaking, and something that not all clients will feel ready or able to do. As an alternative, an outpatient programme will enable you to remain at home (or another safe space) for your treatment. As an outpatient, you would only need to attend the clinic in person for pre-arranged sessions. This option gives you flexibility and freedom in your recovery, and enables you to accommodate work commitments. It should be noted that outpatient treatment is best suited to those with short-term addictions or substance abuse issues, or who have completed a prior course of treatment and are looking for ongoing support. For severe or long-term addictions, it is not the most appropriate course of action, as it cannot provide an immersive substance-free environment and recovery culture, which are proven to aid successful treatment of addiction.
